The Tea Ceremony
We held a big tea ceremony at Sankeien Garden(三渓園) in Yokohama city on the 14th of April. The tea room is called Rengein(蓮華院).
We invited many guests, and for each ceremony we could sit 18 guests. In total we gathered about 180 people over 10 ceremonies. They had a nice, peaceful time there on a warm Spring day.
This wonderful, big Japanese garden, Sankeien Garden, has a spread of 175,000 square meters, and was made by Hara Sankei(原三渓). He was a businessman, who managed a trading company that dealt in raw silks. He had many artists as friends. This garden become a cultivate place for art , literature and Tea ceremony. This place was opened for civilians in 1906. Visitors can enjoy great, seasonable scenery and historical buildings. There are 17 buildings which were moved here from Kyoto or Kamakura. They are authorized national treasures.
Hara Sankei loves this Rengein, which was made according to his design. This is a special tea room.
