Nobles enjoyed the appreciation of plum blossom in the Nara period（奈良時代）, a practice that comes from China.
Later, It was changed from plum blossoms to cherry blossoms as special events for the Emperors and nobles.
In the Edo period（江戸時代）, the Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune（徳川吉宗）had allowed civilian people to plant many cherry trees in Edo and enjoy the cherry trees blooming.
Edo civilian people liked these events very much, and we can understand their joyful feelings through lots of art and food.
This Hanami-Dango (花見団子） is one of the foods related to Ohanami.
It is a sweet dumplings made of rice powder.
It has three colors. Pink means the color of cherry petals, and including the cleansing of bad misfortune.
Green means the color of young grasses and white means the color of remaining snow.
